Seascape from the attic

I have been doing a seascape from a tutorial DVD by michael munton...and that's seems to be taking
time because of various distractions. I hope to share it soon!

While searching my pile of old paintings I had done I came across a few seascapes I had done while training as a CRI(Certified Ross Instructor). Its not perfect, but colourful than the dark palette I chose in the seascape I shared before.

Moonlit Seascape

This post is after a long hiatus......however wanted to share a seascape I did.Which seemed like a preparation well in advance before I received a request for a class in Seascapes. It was a birthday treat sponsored by the client. It was my first class ever!!
The student opted to select a different palette.

Cabin By the Alps

This has been one of the first mountain scape (is there a word like that ? :-)) that I did and liked !...so I share it with you. This painting involves a lot of techniques. The one technique which is my all time favourite is the pulling down reflections on water with the 2 inch brush! The others are the pulling down of snow on the mountain and the pine trees with the fan brush and the clouds as well. The cabin makes the picture quite a romantic destination for a holiday, perhaps to write a book or a blog or for some private moments with your lover...;-)

Forest Edge

For those of you who has seen the Bob Ross TV series this particular painting may be familiar and quite a favourite one. Forests and landscapes have caught my fancy and so I have enjoyed doing this.Again, similar to the previous oval brown tone forest that I did I used Jesso, then went on with the layering of the colours.
Somehow this reminds me of the verse from the Bible,
But the path of the just is like the shining sun,That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day(Proverbs 4:18)
For this reason each time I look at this painting it tells me of the promise that my path is going to get brighter and brighter everyday !! Yahoo!!

British Country Side in Oils

I am blogging after a long time. This month I wanted to share about the fantastic painting lesson I had with Artist Michael Munton. He has loads of painting tuition uploaded on Youtube and thats how I accidentally came across the man.His choice of subject and colours is simply excellent!. I had the privilege of learning and being inspired.Besides that I came back with many tips and ideas.
He uses the wet on wet technique in painting British country side...which I enjoy!!
Here in this painting Black Jesso is used to shape out the trees and the river and the landscape. The stone are painted in with white and brown acrylics and dried before you head for the liquid white coat. Then you go for the colours in the sky and foliage.
I enjoyed doing this one !

Enchanted Forest

Hey ! My name is Ann,and this is my first blog....and blog it is to catalogue my journey with the paintbrush! I love colour, art and craft. Hopefully I will be able to perfect and in turn share what I learn. I hope to be able to draw and paint in Oil,Acrylic, pastels and sketch some day.For now I am going to camp with oil paints.

I stumbled upon Bob Ross shows on TV...I was simply amazed how he taught and what amazing results came up in just 30 minutes of the show.

I think the wet on wet on technique is a wonderful technique to know and have under your belt. For the moment I have started to learn about this technique and hope to complete many projects in mind.

For my very first post I would like to share one of my favourite paintings that I completed.

This a beautiful forest scene. The Layering of distant trees gives wonderful depth to the painting.I enjoyed doing this one!If you have seen Bob ross's shows he uses an acrylic medium called Jesso, where most of the dark areas and the first layer of far away trees where indicated, after that is dry different tones of the alizarin based brown oil paints are used.

And Yes he has done this one on his show.I admire many of the forest paintings He has done...
One day I hope I can do my own masterpieces as well!
The technique is simple and effective.
